      Technical Session A:
Randy Ebersole, IBM – Senior IT Specialist DB2 UDB for z/OS

Let’s Look at Materialized Query Tables for DB2 V8 z/OS
It is very common that as the amount of data grows in our DB2 tables and as our applications become more complex,
queries must run against a large amount of data. Even though the amount of data has increased, there are still business
requirements to deliver response times as quickly as possible. Materialized query tables are very effective in working
with data warehousing applications. This presentation will discuss the basics of materialized query tables and give you an
understanding of how you can best utilize this new functionality in DB2 V8.

Randy is a Senior IT Specialist in IBM's Information Management DB2 for z/OS Services organization. Randy provides
onsite technical consulting to customers around the world. With more than 18 years of DB2 experience, Randy has expertise
in database and application design, performance and high availability.

solutions to customers, assisted customers to utilize the DB2-tools suite in order for the customer to get “value for
the money”. The last couple of years have been spent in DB2-development of Computer Associates - providing ad-hoc
support for internal DB2 consultants, assisting customers in utilizing our DB2-tools, assisting development in future
