      Technical Session A:
      Steen Rasmussen, Computer Associates

      Exploiting the Log's Many Possibilities

The log is a vital part of DB2 and DB2 recovery. However - once you start to exploit the content, many day to
day tasks can be changed for the better for everyone. This presentation will look into real life scenarios how
DB2 sites are squeezing the most out of the log to manage audit control, application recovery, change propagation,
application QA and assisting in disaster scenarios.

Steen Rasmussen is currently instrumental in the ongoing development and support of CA DB2 tools and features. In
1985 Steen started as an IMS/DB2 DBA at a major insurance company working with all aspects of DB2-like tuning,
design and implementation, education of developers, backup and recovery planning, and automation of housekeeping
processes. In 1995 Steen became a technical manager at PLATINUM Technology managing technical support and
      presales for the DB2 products.

      UDB DB2 for z/OS V8 Planning

The best way to protect your DB2 for z/OS investment is to aggressively prepare for the next release. Just
because migrating to DB2 for z/OS Version 8 may only be a dream today, that is no reason to put off the planning
and preparation for your almost guaranteed move to you will have to make to Version 8 tomorrow. There are lots of
things you can do today to get ready for that eventual migration tomorrow. This presentation will review and
discuss the task available while on Version 7 (or before) so you are in the right shape to do a Version 8 migration.

The Good, the Bad and the really Ugly: DSNZPARM

Yes, it’s back again, another discussion on DSNZPARM. Although it has the same title, this presentation has
all new information. A few of the original items are still discussed but most of the information delivered is
new. This presentation will examine the hidden, not so hidden (opaque), and visible ZPARMs. It will discuss
parms that might affect your V8 migration and new to V8. If you give this presentation a listen, you will leave
with the ability to separate the facts from the fiction the next time someone speaks ZPARM to you.
